2016 BRC Sprint an Option for Beau Rada

May 3rd, 2016

Trainer John McArdle has been pleased with the condition of Beau Rada this time, and has revealed a trip to Brisbane for races like the 2016 Group 3 BRC Sprint (1350m) could be on the card should the gelding perform well this weekend.

Beau Rada has been a strong and consistent performer for McArdle through his entire racing career so far; posting a commendable seven race wins and five minors through a total of twenty-three competitive starts since first appearing on course competitively in late 2013.

Having finished sixth behind the likes of Sheidel, Girl Guide and Under The Louvre in the Listed Bel Esprit Stakes (1100m) last time out on April 23rd, McArdle told Racing Victoria a trip north for the 2016 Brisbane Carnival will likely come to fruition should Beau Rada perform to expectation in Saturday’s 1000m handicap at Flemington.

“If he runs like we think he should [on Saturday], we might head to Queensland with him,” McArdle said.

“He just didn’t run the 1100m, which has always been the concern.

“He loomed up [to win], and wasn’t beaten far by nice horses.

“His form before that, he’d beaten Sheidel his last two starts.

“At 1000m, he’s on the right track.”

Beau Rada is amidst a long and busy racing preparation spanning back to the beginning of October, and will line up for his thirteenth start this time at Flemington on Saturday.

Running seventh in the Red Tempo BM90 (1000m) at Flemington on January 1st, Beau Rada responded well with two consecutive second-place finishes in the Browns Sawdust & Shavings BM84 (1000m) and Jeep 55 Second Challenge (955m).

Making a credible return to black type company when fifth in the Listed Bob Hoysted Handicap (1000m) on March 5th, the Hard Spun gelding returned to winning form in a Moonee Valley minor over 955m on March 24th; progressing to second behind Bullpit in the Ladbrokes Infohub Handicap (1000m) in his only other start prior to the Bel Esprit Stakes on April 9th.
