Thirteen runners have been confirmed in the final field for Saturday’s 2016 Group 3 BRC Sprint (1350m) at Doomben Racecourse; highlight by the inclusion of some of the Brisbane Winter Carnival’s most exciting prospects.
Artlee has posted some typically good results this time and has been confirmed to back up in the 2016 BRC Sprint field, after placing seventh in the Group 1 BTC Cup (1200m) last weekend.
Posting six wins and three minors through fourteen career starts, Artlee announced himself to the Australian racing community with an impressive performance to win the Country Championships Final (1400m) at Randwick during the 2015 edition of The Championships.
Having capped that preparation with a maiden black type win in the Listed Luskin Star Stakes (1300m), the Excellent Art gelding clearly needed a run when ninth in the Group 3 Hall Mark Stakes (1200m) first-up this time, but ran on for third in the Group 2 Victory Stakes (1200m) on April 30th.
Artlee will be partnered by Michael Cahill and will leave from the ideal barrier 3 in the 2016 BRC Sprint.
Charmed Harmony has been charged with overcoming the wide and somewhat awkward barrier 11 in the BRC Sprint, but carries winning form into the race.
Ending a typically smart 2015 campaign with success in the Group 3 Sandown Stakes (1500m), Charmed Harmony resumed this time for ninth in the Ascot Racecourse Trophy (1400m) on February 20th, but clearly took benefit from the run when sixth in the Group 1 Newmarket Handicap (1200m).
Charmed Harmony has since finished second in the Group 3 Victoria Handicap (1400m) and won the Charter Keck Kramer Plate (1400m) on April 30th.
Coolring posted an impressive win at black type level last start and should find a good position off the early pace in the BRC Sprint from barrier 8.
Running third in the Group 3 Star Kingdom Stakes (1200m) on March 26th, Coolring placed second in the Listed Weetwood Handicap (1200m) on April 16th.
Unlucky to be checked in the early stages of the final straight at Hawkesbury when third in the Gold Rush (1100m) on April 30th, the Sebring gelding comfortably won the Listed Prime Minister’s Cup (1400m) on May 7th.
Bachman will leave from the rails draw in the BRC Sprint, has been confirmed to be partnered by Kerrin McEvoy and will carry only 55.5kgs.
Returning in summer for an impressive win in a Randwick minor over 1200m, the All American gelding repeated the dose in the Listed Goldmarket Quality (1300m) before finishing mid-pack in the Magic Millions Cup (1400m) on January 9th.
Running third in the Group 3 Maurice McCarten Stakes (1100m) upon returning from a freshen-up on March 12th, Bachman placed a credible fifth in the Star Kingdom Stakes but failed to handle the late pace in the Hall Mark Stakes last time.
